Hello and welcome to Affordable laptops.  Our goal is to provide you with an option when you are considering purchasing a laptop computer.  An option that we believe makes a lot of sense (which you will soon find out).

We know there are millions of people who would like to own a laptop computer, however, many of them cannot afford to buy one.  They think that laptops are too expensive.  That is usually because they do not know about, or have not considered buying a used or refurbished laptop.

Laptops, like most other higher priced items depreciate (loose value) quickly. By purchasing a used or refurbished laptop you are making it much more affordable.  So much so that virtually anyone who desires one can afford it.  Much like buying a used car is much cheaper than buying a new one.

A used computer is just that – a computer that has been owned and used by a previous owner.  By searching carefully, it is possible to find used computers that are in virtually “like new” condition.  The previous owner has either taken that good of care of the unit, or, they simply did not use it much.

A refurbished computer is a used computer, that has been inspected (and possibly upgraded and/or had any missing or broken parts repaired) and verified to be in working order.

There are many advantages of purchasing a used or refurbished computer, they include:

#3 – Much kinder to the environment.  One of the things that are of great concern to environmentalist is electronic waste.

In our opinion, there really is no reason for most people to buy a new laptop computer.

While buying a brand-new laptop can be fun, you can save a lot of money by purchasing a “refurbished” or used one instead. These are units that have been returned unopened to the manufacturer or store where they were purchased and can no longer be sold as new, even though for all practical purposes they are in new condition with all of the components and accessories.

When purchasing used laptops make sure it has all of the features you need and is not missing any parts.

Because you are searching for a used system, make sure to ask the seller, no matter where you go, what their return policy is and whether the system is still under manufacturer’s warranty. You don’t want to take the laptop home, have it be dead on arrival, and then not be able to work with the seller to replace or refund it.

When you have an old laptop around that you don’t need anymore, consider giving it away. Many charitable organizations gladly accept used laptops. Also, determine the value of the laptop, so that you can write the amount off on your taxes if you donate it to a charitable or nonprofit organization.

If you are donating your laptop, it probably means that you are getting a new one. Although the laptop is outdated, donating it will make someone else very happy.

Like new cars, laptops decrease in value soon after they are driven off the lot. It’s no wonder that used cars and laptops have steadily gained in popularity among those looking to buy a laptop.
